Content Co studio

Build government content skills that last — through real work, with guided AI support that teaches you to think, not just produce.

A self-paced 12-module program for Australian government content professionals. You build plain language, accessibility, structure, and strategic judgement by working on real content, using AI prompts designed to work with whatever tool your agency has approved.

About this program

Content Co Studio was developed by Ellen Harvey, a content design consultant who led whole-of-government digital consolidation for the ACT Government.

(What’s that? The decommissioning 60 government websites, reducing content by 90%, and cutting average call centre call times from 7 to 4 minutes.)

It was built for the people who need to understand content design but have never had structured training in it: policy officers, program officers, subject matter experts, communications teams, web publishers, and anyone else who touches content as part of their job. It is more engaging than a three-hour presentation on the subject — and more useful.

The problem

Government content teams are expected to produce content that is clear, accessible, strategically sound, and fit for digital channels. Most are doing that without enough support to do it consistently.

The options available tend to fall into familiar traps. Generic writing courses with no government context. Accessibility guidance that is hard to apply to real content under real time pressure. AI tools promoted without a clear method for using them well. In too many agencies, capability uplift means a workshop that produces action items nobody has time to follow up.

That leaves people doing complex content work without the confidence or consistency the work requires.

The solution

Content Co Studio is a guided practice system.

Participants do not sit through lessons — they work through real content problems using structured modules, practical worksheets, and guided AI prompts.

Every prompt is self-contained: role, context, constraints, and task built in. No custom AI tool required. The prompts work with Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or whatever tool a participant's agency permits.

The result is capability that is immediately useful in day-to-day government work.

What makes Content Co studio different

Builds judgement, not dependency

Every module asks participants to assess AI output, not just accept it. The program develops content judgement — so participants get better at the work, not just faster at producing it.

Built for the Australian government context

Designed for the realities of Australian government content: public information, service content, approvals constraints, governance, and strategic trade-offs.

Guided AI prompts, not a proprietary tool

Every prompt works with Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. No custom assistant, no new system to learn, no vendor lock-in.

Learning through real work

Participants bring real content challenges and improve them as they learn. The capstone uses content from the participant's own context.

Each module comes with a worksheet, a guided AI prompt sequence, and a set of designed reference resources — cheat sheets, decision cards, templates, and checklists you keep and reuse in live work after the program ends.

A few worth naming: a keep/move/merge/split/remove decision card, a content review sequence, a service content component checklist, a content rationale template, a stakeholder framing guide, a common AI problems checklist, a verification checklist for AI-generated content, and a full content design workflow reference.

These are not supplementary materials. They are the course. The modules are the teaching structure. The resources are what you take back to your desk.

Who is this for

  • SMEs and subject-matter contributors
  • communications professionals managing service information
  • policy and program teams who publish public-facing content

No content design background required. The program builds from fundamentals, so participants with a policy, communications, or program background get as much from it as working content designers.

No prior AI experience required. Module 1 covers responsible AI use in government contexts, including how to protect judgement, privacy, and accuracy.
