Who I am

I'm Ellen Harvey (ABN 68 672 922 399), and I run Content Co, based in Brisbane, Australia. You can contact me at hello@ellenharvey.com.au.

What information I collect

I collect personal information when you:

  • contact me — I collect your name, email address, and the content of your message

  • subscribe to my newsletter — I collect your email address and, optionally, your name

  • visit this website — my hosting provider (Squarespace) may collect usage data, including your IP address, browser type, and pages visited

  • use my free tools — Confetti and my other tools run in your browser and save your work on your own device, so I never receive it. If you send feedback through the form, I collect what you write and any contact details you give.

I don't collect sensitive information as defined under the Australian Privacy Act 1988.

How I use your information

I use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry

  • send you my newsletter, if you subscribed

  • record and follow up on business enquiries

  • understand how people use this website so I can improve it.

I won't use your information for any other purpose without your consent.

Who I share your information with

I don't sell your personal information. I share it only with the platforms I use to run this website and my business:

  • Squarespace — my website host, which may process usage data

  • Kit (ConvertKit) — my newsletter platform, which stores subscriber email addresses

  • Notion — my business management tool, where I may record enquiry and contact details to follow up with you. Notion stores data on servers that may be located outside Australia.

  • Tally — my feedback forms, which receives what you type into it. It loads only if you open the form, and receives nothing unless you send it. Tally stores data on servers that may be located outside Australia.

These providers have their own privacy policies, which I encourage you to read if you have questions about how they handle your data.

Cookies

This website sets 3 cookies. All of them come from Squarespace, my website host.

  • crumb is a security token that protects forms from misuse. The site needs this one to work.

  • ss_cvr identifies unique visitors and tracks sessions. It lasts 2 years.

  • ss_cvt does the same across a single visit. It lasts 30 minutes.

The last 2 are how Squarespace counts visitors and shows me which pages people read. I use that to decide what to write next. I do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and I do not share this data with advertisers.

My tools, including Confetti, save your work in your browser's local storage on your own device. That is not a cookie. It is never sent anywhere, and I cannot read it. Clear it with the tool's Clear button, or by clearing your browser data.

You can refuse cookies in your browser settings. The site still works.

How I store your information

Your information is stored securely. I keep it only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information I hold about you

  • Ask me to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date

  • Ask me to delete your information where it is no longer needed

  • Unsubscribe from my newsletter at any time using the link in any email I send

Tools on this site

I offer free tools on this site, including Confetti. These terms apply to them.

They give you suggestions, not answers. The checks are automated rules. They find some problems, miss others, and sometimes flag things that are fine. Judgement stays with you. A result is not approval, it is not proof that your content meets the Australian Government Style Manual or the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and it does not replace review by a person.

Your text stays yours. Text you type, paste or upload runs in your browser on your own device. I never receive it, so I claim no rights over it and take no responsibility for it. Check your own organisation's rules before you put work material into any tool, including this one.

The tools stay mine. The code is my intellectual property. You may use the tools. You may not copy, republish or resell them without written permission.

I provide them as they are. I do not warrant that a tool is accurate, complete, available or fit for your purpose, and I may change or withdraw one at any time. To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any loss arising from your use of a tool or your reliance on what it tells you. Nothing here excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
